A Black Wood

1. Two nights ago (just before dinner), my youngest daughter said "What is that black wood doing on the kitchen sink?"

(About half an hour before that, I saw a charcoal sitting on the sink. I asked my zaujah "Where's this charcoal come from?" "Oh it was from the orchid pot. I rearranged the plants and took out one of the charcoals.)

2. Saya dan zaujah pun tergelak besar. Lebih-lebih lagi saya "That's is not a black wood! That thing is charcoal!" My daughter was puzzled and deeply embarrased.

3. We did not blame her. Probably she has not seen a Malaysian charcoal or an "arang" before. If she did, mungkin masa terlalu kecil. During our stay in Australia, we used either charcoal briquettes, gas or electric to barbeque our lamb, chicken etc. Dan yang paling kerap adalah penggunaan activated carbon pills bila sakit perut or kena cirit birit. Sejak pulang kami cuma electric grill untuk barbeque kebab, ayam atau lamb. Tak merasalah dia melihat arang selain carbon pills!
